I Am Unique

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

We have given a lot of thought, paid an indecent amount of money and taken much action over the years to change the way we are. To become ‘better’ human beings. To make the most of this life we have. To get rid of the behaviours that are counterproductive. The behaviours that cause harm to us and others.

We have attended numerous courses, workshops and seminars around the world. Only to find that the bottom line is that no one can do it except us. No one can change the way you are except you.

Adding a technique or two, or focussing on a behaviour that causes upset does not work. In order to ensure you are constantly happy, healthy and more at peace with the world you need to change the way you think about yourself.

Have you ever thought about the way you describe yourself? When you are asked who are you? What do you reply? Do you start with your occupation or your role? If you did you replied in the way you have been trained by society. But you answered the wrong question. You answered the question What are you? Or What do you do?

So when asked: Who are you? What is the reply?
One answer would be, ” I am a human being”. OK. Now turn it on its head. What about: A being that happens to be human? How does that fit? Does that describe who you are?

But, what does that mean? What does it mean to be a being that happens to be human?
Aren’t you just playing on words?

No. To us it is important. It changes the way you view yourself. For us the phrase; ‘ a being that happens to be human’ means someone who is unfinished, uncompleted. Someone who is on a journey. Someone who is becoming something. Someone who has a natural tendency to grow. Someone who is free to choose whatever path they want. Someone who, left alone, naturally chooses positive and constructive paths. Someone who has a natural tendency to grow, to develop, to achieve their natural potential.

We know, it sounds scary, but just think about this for a moment. Wherever you go for a bit of peace and quiet go there and think for a moment.

I am a being. Someone who naturally chooses what is best for me. Someone who is always becoming. Someone who has an inherent talent to take care of themselves. Someone who is naturally motivated to grow, to develop and to achieve their natural potential.

This means: not only are you are unique but you have a natural ability to move towards fulfilling your potential.

Take a minute and look back over your life. Note down all the major events good and bad. Now review them. When you look back were they turning moments in your life? Can you see a benefit? Can you see how you are choosing what is best for you even though it didn’t feel like it at the time?

Every child has an inner timetable for growtha pattern unique to him… Growth is not steady, forward, upward progression. It is instead a switchback trail;
three steps forward, two back, one around the bushes,
and a few simply standing, before another forward leap –Dorothy Corkville Briggs
Your Child’s Self-Esteem, (1975).

We each have our own story. Our own life with its ups and downs, with its variety of experiences and problems. But eventually when we look back we can see the benefits..

The only thing that slows down your growth and makes it more difficult to achieve your natural potential is You. The way you see yourself.

If you:

see yourself as an attachment to another person

allow yourself to be in fear of or in awe of another person

let others rule your life

depend on others

blame others for your feelings and behaviours

hide the real you through forced or affected humour

spend time building a faade to hide behind

display defensive behaviour to defend yourself against…….

then you have lost your uniqueness .

Your role is now to serve the other person. You are a slave to their dictates. The minute you are drawn to do something that is driven by another’s agenda you are no longer choosing what is naturally best for you. You are choosing what they want you to do. You are accepting that they are the ‘expert’ in your life. Another person knows what is best for you.

The bottom line is that you are the only person who really knows you. You are the only one who has had all the experiences that make up you. Others have witnessed and experienced parts of you but you are the only one who has seen, heard and lived the lot. You are the only one with the built in self motivation to grow, to develop to achieve your natural potential.

How do you do it?

Trust yourself. You are unique. You have a natural ability to move towards your potential. When you trust yourself you naturally flow and are able to move towards what you are supposed to become. When you trust yourself fear disappears. You no longer feel the need to protect yourself from this and that. You no longer feel that you ought to, should do or must do in order to meet the expectations of others.

Trust enables you to grow and creates energy. Trust enables you to be who you are. A fully functioning natural unique individual.

These are our few thoughts to change your inner state.

You are unique, and if that is not fulfilled,
Then something has been lost. –(Martha Graham)

A Phone Call Leads To A New Purpose Project

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

I recently received a phone call from a gentleman from California by the name of Bob. Bob’s elderly voice was electrified with passion as he thanked me for a short piece of writing that he had recently read in Science of Mind Magazine that included the paragraph:

“If you have a dream to make a difference with other people, even if it’s off the beaten track of mainstream acceptability, go for it with purposeful patience and perseverance. Follow the breadcrumbs of your passion, and even if you don’t know exactly where they are leading you, you will never be disappointed by where you end up. Living in faith can balance the odds even when it appears you’re going against all the odds.”

Bob went on to say that those words spoke directly to him. Bob told me that he’d been in the trucking industry for the past 40 years and had recently had the thought that he’d like to write something for his fellow truckers but hadn’t felt that anyone would want to read what he wrote. When he read my passage, he knew that he had to follow his own ‘breadcrumbs of passion’ even though he didn’t know where they were leading him.

So, truckers, watch out. Passion-filled Bob is coming your way.

Bob’s call has led me to my own new Purpose Project that I’m calling the Purposeful Praise Project. Bob’s call made my day as a writer. To know that my words could make such a difference in a 76-year-old man’s life is very satisfying. It got me to thinking, how many people have made a similar contribution to my life and how many of them have I missed acknowledging and appreciating? Too many to count, but not too many to start ‘purposefully praising’ through phone calls, letters or emails.

I can’t really claim the project as original to me. One of my clients who is also a dear friend of many years, recently created Project Pen Pal. He’s writing hand written letters to the people in his life that have made a significant contribution to him. I’m the proud recipient of one of his letters. It’s tucked away in my special notebook where I keep such treasures.

And so it goes. Purpose, passion and play shared among each other and in the sharing it multiplies and from such multiplication comes our World On Purpose. Thank you Bob and Eric for keeping the flow flowing.

And that’s my life on purpose from the paradise found of Flat Rock NC.

Words That Come To Pass

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

The man went to work that morning. As soon as he walked in the door he heard someone comment on something bad. The person continued with the negative and said that the negative would really happen to them at work.

There were other people listening but none of them agreed with him. They spoke to each other. They started bringing up the positive that was happening when the negative storyteller came rushing through the doorway yelling, “See, I told you!”

They all stopped working for a minute and started praying.

Then one man turned and walked over to the negative storyteller.

“What are you doing?”, the man asked.

“Just telling you guys what would happen. And I was right,” the happy looking negative storyteller gloated.

The man shook his head slowly while he said, “Do you realize that many years ago someone already said that would happen too?”

“What do you mean?”

The man took a deep breath and said, “Well, don’t you know that this world was made by someone that did just that? He said that which could not be seen as if is already could be. And then it was.” He smiled at the other man.

The one that had been the negative storyteller seemed to really be thinking that one through.

The man started again, “This is explained more in Romans 4:17. Look it up and if you have any questions let me know…”

The now more curious, previously negative storyteller said, “So you can do that too?”

The man, knowing that there were more details then coud be be explained right then, just told him, “Yes, it’s all in the Bible. Don’t miss it. Read it. It’s God’s contract for you. Choose God!. He always gives good! Always. And I’m sure that you want the good not the bad…” The man smiled.

The men both went back to work. The now more positive storyteller had decided that he would find out more about how this world was created. He decided to see how this affected his own words by reading his Bible when he got home…

Inspirational Thought For The Day

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

Are you ready for your inspirational thought for the day? When you first read it, it may seem too simple. However, if you think about it for even a moment, you’ll see that the implications are profound - and inspiring. This is t:

“Whatever goals you have in your life, and no matter where you are start, someone has succeeded at something similar or even more difficult, starting with less than you have.”

There may be some of you out of the six billion on the planet for whom this doesn’t apply. Perhaps some really want to do things that are far beyond anything a man or woman has ever done, so I apologize to the fifty of you. As for the rest of you, what do you want?

Want a loving partner? Somebody less attractive, charming and intelligent than you is getting happily married somewhere today. Want to create a new food and successfully market it? You probably already have more resources than Harlan Sanders had when he started trying to sell his Kentucky Fried Chicken. Want a big beautiful home? Three or more people in your town have such a home after being poorer than you at some point in their lives.

Is This An Inspirational Thought?

Anthony Hopkin’s character, in the movie “The Edge,” says “What one man can do, another can do.” He goes on to kill the bear that is stalking him. What if you aren’t as strong, as rich, or as smart as others? Not all those who have done great things were always stronger, smarter and richer than you. Just like them, you can learn the right things, take the right actions and put in the effort. This is why this is an inspirational thought. See where some people started from, and you’ll find yourself saying, “Hey! If he can do it, I can too.”

I told a guy he could save money to buy a home, and he claimed he just didn’t have any extra to save. He forget that he already knew several people who were making less money than him and surviving just fine. If he lived like those people for a while, couldn’t he bank the difference? (Just say yes - finding reasons why you can’t do something is a terrible habit to encourage.)

Would you like a date for this Friday? How? Here’s a clue: An awkward young man asked a woman friend why he couldn’t get a date. She asked if he had asked anyone out. After he thought about it for a moment he said, “No.” “That’s why,” she told him. Better example: I know a jerk who always had a date - after asking twenty women a week out. These are lessons, aren’t they? If a geek and a jerk can get a date, you can too, right?

Colonel Sanders drove around in an old van living off his social security check as 900 restaurants told him they were not interested in his recipe. One eventually said yes, and he eventually made millions of dollars. Maybe this could inspire us to try something more than three times?

People come here with little money and speaking little English and end up owning restaurants and stores. If you want to own a restaurant or store, find out how they do it. There are almost three million millionaires in the U.S. If you really want millions, read their stories, talk to them, and learn how to make money. Whatever you want to do, someone has done it, starting from a worse situation than yours. If they can do it, you can too. This is your inspirational thought for the day.

Inspiration From The Passion Of Waves

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

Watch the waves. Watch small waves, and watch the large waves. Watch them coming in, on the shore untiringly. What do we see? We see the passion. We see the energy. We also wonder about the purpose of the non-stop motion of the waves.

Waves have the undying passion of meeting the shore. They never get tired doing that. One after another, they keep on coming. They keep on smashing on the shore and then subsiding. Then comes another wave. This goes on and on. We have watched the waves so many times that we don’t pay attention to this passion. This passion can teach us a lot. Download some screensavers with videos of waves. Watch them from time to time. You will slowly get that visual of waves associated in your mind with unceasing passion.

The first teaching is not getting tired. Waves don’t get tired. They have a job to do - meet the shore again and again. So they keep on. When we have a job to do, we must behave like that. Non-stop work without getting tired. We will surely get tired, but a visual of waves will remind us immediately that we have work to do and we will continue despite all the tiredness.

The second teaching is work without any break. Have we seen waves taking a small break? Never. Same way, we are passionately working towards a goal, we have to keep that passion on all the time. Every moment that passion must drive us. No other thought but our passion. Great work is done only with such passion. You can achieve impossible with this kind of passion.

The third teaching is passion itself. Waves are passionate to meet the shores. They think of nothing but the shore. Similarly we must develop passion for something. Love creates such passion. Romantic love can do that and so can the love for human beings, like Mother Teresa had. Develop passion for something. Whatever may be your occupation, if you develop passion for excellence, you will get unbelievable results. Let us develop that passion. Let us say - I will passionately work in a manner so that I am satisfied only with the best results. I will keep this passion on forever in my work. I will do everything with passion and will make sure that I achieve great results.

Take inspiration from the passion of waves and you shall achieve success, great success.

Who are you?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2009 — Posted in Online New Age

I have a question for you.

Who are you?

This may be a simply enough question but before you attempt to answer this question let us go on a voyage of personal self discovery which will allow you to find an acceptable answer.

The difference between the “Living” and the “Non Living” is the existence of the spiritual soul that manages the physical body from birth to death. The soul expresses itself through the five senses of the physical body. Without the soul, the physical body cannot express or maintain itself.

The reflection you see when you look into a mirror will be that of your physical body which gradually ages. Your soul is “seen” through your personality. You may look old when you look in a mirror but you could feel and act like a child.

The soul is your mind that is not constrained by time or distance. Within a second your mind can race back to your youth or visit any place your thoughts may pull you towards.

Souls cannot be seen. The understanding of the soul is limited because the soul is spiritual and cannot be explained or understood with the knowledge of the physical laws of sciences.

The soul or mind is similar to the tiny microprocessor of a computer system that obtains information from input devices like the keyboard and processes the information and communicates via its output devices such as the monitor and printer. The microprocessors RAM and Rom memory are similar to the soul’s conscious and sub-conscious memory respectively.

Like the microprocessor, the soul obtains information via the body’s sense organs (input devices) processes them with memory of past experiences in its conscious and sub-conscious mind and communicates with the outside world via one or more of the bodies organs (output devices).

For example, when something “nice” is seen, heard, smelt, tasted or felt the signals (input) are processed as pleasing and positive. This creates the positive response of a smile or laughter. The overall response is one of attraction rather than repulsion and should be repeated rather than avoided.

The soul is a tiny point of energy and functions on three levels that may be broadly categorised as the Mind, Intellect and Impressions.

The function of the mind is to imagine, think and form thoughts based on emotions, desires and sensations. Happiness and sadness are created and experienced by the mind but displayed by the physical organs of your body.
The function of the Intellect is to access the thoughts created in your mind. It has the capacity to reason, memorise, discriminate and make decisions. It is your conscience that discriminates between right and wrong actions.

The Impressions are the memory of actions that become ingrained in the soul. The actions especially when repeated become habits, tendencies, emotions, temperaments and general personality traits.

There is a cyclic pattern in that the minds thoughts are put into action by the intellect to create impressions or memory of past actions. Repeated actions, especially those of a negative nature, create habits and addictions when your minds thoughts are acted upon without being judged by the intellect.

Smoking, consuming alcohol and indulging in sexual lust are actions that you enter into in search of happiness and fulfilment. The happiness created is just an illusion because ether the senses are temporarily incapacitated or the happiness cannot be sustained. You suffer the negative consequences of addiction and dependency due to the need for increasingly more stimulants in an effort to create decreasing levels of temporary happiness.

When you perform actions without thinking, you, the soul becomes a slave to your senses. Addiction and dependency are not just smoking and consuming alcohol. Laziness is an addiction just as is over-eating. Expectation from others is a dependency. Almost anything that you want or desire rather than need is a form of addiction.

The word “I” is used to refer to the experiences and wishes of the soul with statements such as “I am”, “I love” and “I hope”.

The word “My” is used to refer to the physical body, possessions and activities with statements such as “My hand” “My car” or “My job”

The advantage of knowing “who I am” is to realise and use the powerful spiritual energy that is within your body.

With you intellect now awakened you can focus on your power of judgement to become more selective and choose only those thoughts that will lead you to experience permanent happiness and contentment. Addiction to temporary happiness can now be avoided. Bad habits can be replaced with good habits you can be proud of. You can be more peaceful and deliberate rather than tense and anxious. You come to realise that happiness is a state of mind that it is created by you. Likewise you can avoid unhappiness or the experience of sorrow because you do not need to experience negative feelings.

You can and should be in control over your body’s senses.

With the realisation that you are a peaceful soul you can begin to see others as equals to establish relationships of harmony. You can now avoid personality clashes and discriminations based on sex, colour, language, nationality, religion, culture and physical disabilities.

Most of your activities such as eating, sitting, working and sleeping are all done for the health of your physical body. What we all do is fail to address the need for peace and happiness of the real you, the soul within the body.

So back to the question, who are you?

I can not give you the answer as only you know. I have just set the question to make you think.

New Years Resolution Fitness Emergency

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2009 — Posted in Shopping Infos

As the fitness centers and gyms fill up this time of year with folks eager to meet their New Year goals there lurks an ominous foe. Many people jump into exercise with gusto and never take into account existing medical issues, medication side effects, and ‘old injuries’.

Heart conditions, Respitory issues, Diabetes will all complicate your bodies ability to successfully negotiate an exercise routine. It goes with out saying that clearance from your doctor is of the utmost importance. It seems obvious that your trainer or gym should be staffed to handle “special populations”, please check first. An unfortunate fact is that most facilities are not staffed or equipped to handle medical issues and especially medical emergencies. Signing a waiver does not constitute safety for you.

Most medical exercise professionals acknowledge that a gradual approach into fitness is key. A person with medical issues does not need to exercise with intensity; rather gradually increasing duration of cardiovascular exercise has been proven more effective and safer. The same holds true with resistance exercises, 1-2 sets is generally accepted as safer and more effective that multiple sets. The key is gradual progression into duration and intensity.

Keep in mind that the goal of ’special population’ exercise is improving quality of life, decreasing injury risk, reducing onset and severity of osteoporosis, and limiting the severity of current medical conditions.

Here are a few tips for dealing with some of the more common medical issues.

Aerobic conditioning should be performed three to five days per week for at least 20 to 30 min at your target heart rate. Training at the proper intensity is the key to aerobic training. A leisurely walk does not qualify for aerobic training. During exercise we intentionally cause physical stress to our bodies. In response, our bodies make adaptations in order to better handle that stress in the future. Our muscles “learn” to work more efficiently through adaptations made by our central nervous system. Muscles adapt by getting bigger and stronger. Bone density increases and connective tissues become stronger. Adaptations made by the heart and lungs allow them to work more efficiently, increasing our capacity to utilize oxygen. During exercise we physically stress our body and it is our body’s adaptation to that stress that makes us healthier. If we don’t push ourselves during aerobic training our training stimulus will not illicit a physiological adaptation.

Recent research has shown that walking at a fast pace actually reduces back pain. This explains why walking at the mall (slow) increases the symptoms most of us feel.

Beware of the flashy exercise machines sold on TV by the pretty people. These devices are designed to make people wealthy not healthy.
It may be necessary to gradually work your way up to the recommended duration and target heart rate. If you’re new to aerobic training or haven’t exercised in a long time start out slowly. Monitor your heart rate during your aerobic exercise. Gradually increase the pace and duration of your aerobic workouts. Before you know it you will be working at the recommended intensity levels and reaping the full benefit of your aerobic training.

To determine your target heart rate you must first find your predicted Maximal Attainable Heart Rate (MAHR ) or Heart Rate Max. (HRM).
To calculate the predicted ( HRM ) subtract your age from 220.
For example if you are 40 years of age, subtract 40 from 220.
220 - 40 = 180 Heart Rate Max. ( HRM )
General guidelines for THR ( target heart rate ) using this method are 60 % HRM (heart rate max.) lower limit - 90 % HRM upper limit.
Multiply HRM and by .6 and .9

With regards to resistance training an opposing muscle group routine is the best. For every push do a pull. This means that if you performed a chest press the next exercise should be a pull down or row. Pay strict attention to the two R’s, Rest and Repetitions. Perform 12-15 reps per exercise, if the last 3 reps on each exercise are as easy the as the first 3 than go up a few pounds on the next set, if the last 3 are hard keep the weight the same. Take only 30 seconds between sets and only one minute between exercises. Never strain, never hold your breath and never lift more weight than you can control.

Listen to your body, push yourself within reason, less with better technique (quality over quantity) is better than more. When in doubt, consult with an exercise and or medical professional.

Poker Terminology: ‘Coin Flip’

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2009 — Posted in Casinos + Gambling, Fun Places, Universe Of Games

A ‘coin flip’ in poker is essentially a spot where the two hands pitted against one another have an equal chance to win the pot. A classic coin flip scenario features a small pair (such as sixes) against two overcards. Even these hands aren’t quite an exact 50/50 split (the small pair is maybe a 1-2% favorite), but on average they work out to about the same, hence the term.

Coin flips become important more often in tournament poker, where later in the rounds the blinds become large enough that people will push with any pair and call with hands like AK AQ, resulting in the 50/50 run for all the money.

Another name for the coin flip is a ‘race’ or ‘racing,’ as it is essentially the same as going to head through five community cards to see who will reach the finish line as the winner.

Tighter, wiser poker players don’t like to get into coin flip situations if they don’t have to, especially in earlier stages of a tournament, as they would rather involve themselves in hands where they are a more certain favorite to win the pot. But at some point, everybody will find themselves in the race spot: in poker it’s almost unavoidable.
